Hyundai CEO Says Redesigned Sonata Coming in 2014, Revamped Genesis Sedan in 2013


Hyundai Motor Company CEO Kim Choon-ho proved to be quite talkative on the sidelines of an industry meeting that took place on Wednesday in South Korea.

The company's boss told a Reuters' reporter that Hyundai plans to launch a "revamped version" of its Sonata sedan in 2014. Kim Choon-ho did not say if it will be a completely new model or a heavy facelift.

The Korean automaker introduced the current generation of its mid-size sedan in its home market in 2009, and in the U.S. and other markets around the world, in 2010. Last year, the KDM Sonata received some minor styling tweaks

Hyundai Reveals New Pictures of 2013 Santa Fe Ahead of NY Auto Show Debut


The slow unveiling of the third generation Santa Fe continues today with another set of images, with Hyundai this time showing us bits and pieces of the real life model instead of renderings.

The all-new Santa Fe will have its world premiere at the 2012 New York International Auto Show in early April and go on sale in most markets around the globe before the end of the year.

According to the South Korean automaker, the 2013 Santa Fe adopts its own design concept called "Storm Edge", which the company says, "captures the strong and dynamic images created by nature during the formation of a storm".

In reality, the new Santa Fe is less chunky with more refined lines than the model it replaces.

New Brochure Shots from 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe


Given that the world premiere of the all-new 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe at next month's New York International Auto Show is imminent, it shouldn't come to much of a surprise that the first brochure shots of the crossover model have leaked onto the web, courtesy of The Korean Blog.

While these scans are from the Korean market model, we don't expect any significant styling changes over the Santa Fe that will be sold in other countries around the world.

Hyundai Employs Hypnotist to Make Viewers Love the New i30 Hatch


Over the years, we've seen automakers and their sales people using all kind of tactics and gimmicks to sell us their products, but we can't say we remember hypnosis being one of them.

Truth to be told, Hyundai is trying out hypnosis to create some internet buzz around its new i30 hatchback (to be sold as the Elantra GT in North America) rather than to actually directly sell its cars to European buyers, and from what we can tell, it's succeeding in its mission.

Hyundai Releases First Official Renderings of the 2013 Santa Fe


With the Geneva motor show now behind us (at least for the press as it will be open for the public until March 18), automakers are gearing up for the next event which is none other than the 2012 New York International Auto Show in April.

Over the weekend, Hyundai published the first teaser images of the all-new 2013 Santa Fe revealing the exterior design of its mid-size crossover.

Hyundai Looks into the Future with New i-oniq Concept Car at the Geneva Motor Show


Hyundai's people want us to take a ride with them into the not-so-distant future with the company's new i-oniq concept car that made its first public outing at this week's 82nd Geneva International Motor Show.

The i-oniq is described as a range-extended electric sports hatchback that demonstrates the next evolution of Hyundai’s fluidic sculpture design language and showcases the automaker's new powertrain technologies.

Designed and developed at Hyundai’s European R&D center in Germany, the 4.4 meter long hatchback with the sporty shape and the impressive doors that open up to the side, has some unique design cues that will be applied to the next generation of the Korean firm's models.

Hyundai gets Practical with New i30 Station Wagon that Makes its World Premiere in Geneva


This is the new generation of the Hyundai i30 Wagon and it was revealed at this week's 82nd Geneva International Motor Show.

It's a C-segment model that competes against the Ford Focus Estate and it is based on the five-door hatchback version of the i30 series, which will be sold as the Elantra GT in North America. The previous generation of the i30 Wagon continues to be marketed under the Elantra Touring nameplate in the States.

The wagon is 30mm taller and 185mm longer than the hatchback, which translates into more space for passengers and their luggage despite the fact that the wheelbase remains the same as the five-door model, at 2.650 mm.

Hyundai Releases More Details on i20 Facelift Ahead of Geneva Premiere


After the first official photos, we now have the first official details on Hyundai's refreshed i20 supermini that will make its world premiere in Geneva this week.

Along with the cosmetic tweaks that include a new fascia inspired Hyundai's latest crop of model like the i30 hatch, the 2012 model also debuts a new 1.1-litre 3-cylinder ‘U-II’ diesel engine that generates 75PS, which is equal to 74-horsepower.

Revised 2012 Hyundai i20 gets a Face Transplant from the i30, First Official Pictures


Images of the facelifted Hyundai i20 have been released onto the web ahead of the car's official unveiling at next week's 82nd Geneva International Auto Salon.

The styling tweaks to the three-year old i20 were more or less to be expected, as the focus was to refresh the supermini and bring it more in line with the latest Hyundai models on the Europe market such as the i30 hatch and i40 sedan/estate.

Hyundai to Debut European Spec Veloster Turbo at the Geneva Auto Salon, gets 183hp


After its world premiere at the Detroit Motor Show in January, the new Hyundai Veloster Turbo is heading to Switzerland and the 82nd Geneva International Auto Salon for its European debut.

Like the North American (N.A.) model, the European specification Veloster Turbo is equipped with the Hyundai Group's new 1.6-liter T-GDI four-cylinder engine featuring a high-compression, twin-scroll turbocharger and direct-injection technology.

However, whereas the N.A. version's T-GDI delivers 201-horsepower and 264Nm (195 lb-ft) of peak torque, the European model's engine has been slightly wringed down to 183-horses (186PS) while providing a little more torque at 270Nm (199.1 lb-ft).

Hyundai i-oniq Opens its Wings for us Before the Geneva Motor Show


New photos of the Hyundai i-oniq were dumped onto the web today affording us several fresh views of the concept model including our first look at the rear end and the interior as well as revealing its sporty Lamborghini-style scissor doors.

The Korean company says that the i-oniq study previews the styling of the firm's next generation of models while also providing a glimpse at future technologies especially in the powertrain and connectivity departments.

Hyundai Shares Mores Details on its Geneva Motor Show i-oniq Concept Car


Even though we've already shown you the new Geneva Motor Show-bound i-oniq concept car, today, Hyundai came out with an official release affording us some more information.

The concept study represents an impression of the company’s future, both in terms of styling, as it further evolves Hyundai's ‘fluidic sculpture’ design language, and in terms of technology.

"The i-oniq concept has been created to reflect the new thinking that runs through the Hyundai brand," says Senior Vice President and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe, Allan Rushforth.

Hyundai i-oniq Concept is a RWD Electric Coupe with a Range Extender Petrol Engine


Following the release of a teaser sketch back in December, we now have the first official image of Hyundai's i-oniq concept study that is set to debut at the 2012 Geneva motor show next week.

Albeit not a coupe in the traditional sense as it sports a rear hatch, the i-oniq is a sporty looking model featuring a low roofline and sleek body work that represents the next evolution of the Korean brand’s ‘fluidic sculpture’ styling language.

Maybe it's just us, but from this angle, the front-end design brings to mind the Nissan 350Z.

Hyundai Flaunts 2012 Azera Sedan's Tech and Comfort Features in New Ads


Being that we're approaching the 2012 Azera's U.S. market launch that takes place in April, Hyundai is entering campaign mode.

The South Korean automaker released two new spots for its latest sedan model, both of which were directed by Wes Anderson.

The first one is called "Talk to My Car" and it touts the Azera's technological gadgets with references to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Knight Rider's KITT, while the second spot named "Modern Life", is all about the Hyundai's comfort features featuring a mother taking it easy inside the car.
